Inside & Out;

Learn to capture indoor and outdoor scenes in watercolor with 6 hours of guided video lessons.

START LEARNING TODAY

Art doesn’t have to be intimidating.

When I first started painting with watercolor, perspective scared me, colors turned muddy, and my sketches felt lifeless. But over time, I learned that watercolor isn’t about control — it’s about flow, patience, and learning to see charm in imperfection.

In A Beginner’s Guide to Watercolor Interiors & Scenes, I’ll walk you through six gentle modules (about six hours total) designed to help you build confidence with every brushstroke. You’ll learn to paint your own cozy interior vignette and a matching outdoor scene — a street façade or a peaceful seascape — step by step, at your own pace.

Along the way, you’ll discover simple methods for mastering perspective without panic, a color workflow that keeps your hues vibrant (never muddy), and beautifully designed motif sheets inspired by architecture and culture — from tiles to balconies.

With printable line art, reference packs, grids, and checklists included, you’ll have everything you need to focus on what truly matters: enjoying the process.

By the end, you’ll have two finished watercolor pieces that capture both the spaces you love and the calm that comes from creating them.

Hi, I’m Alphie

I’m a Maltese artist and former graphic designer who paints primarily in watercolor and oil. My work explores clean composition, Mediterranean light, and the quiet beauty of interiors, façades, and everyday spaces. I’m inspired by the way sunlight moves across old stone walls, how color softens over time, and how stillness can quietly tell a story.

I believe painting should feel calm and approachable — a mindful process rather than a stressful pursuit. In this course, I’ll guide you step by step through creating your own interior and outdoor watercolor scenes, using simple, no-stress methods for perspective, color mixing, and composition.

With motif sheets inspired by Mediterranean architecture and all the reference materials you’ll need, you’ll learn how to capture space, light, and atmosphere — and, most importantly, how to enjoy the process of painting itself.

You can connect with me via social media, where I share painting tips, process videos, and glimpses into my studio life on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

Modules 2

Perspective & Composition Essentials

Learn to simplify interiors and furniture using the box method, seeing rooms and objects as clear geometric forms. Build quick room layouts with horizon lines and vanishing points to understand depth and spatial balance.

Explore cropping and viewfinders to design strong compositions with clear focal points, then apply these skills by drawing and painting a chair and an armchair.

Finish with a practical exercise: sketch one room corner in one-point perspective and create three cropped thumbnails from it.

Modules 3

Interior Texture & Expressive Sketching

Develop looseness and confidence in your painting through quick, timed gesture sketches of simple objects like teapots, cups, and plants. Learn to capture texture, shape, and character with minimal strokes and a relaxed hand.

Then, put your skills to the test with a mini still-life challenge — painting a small everyday scene, such as toast with jam on a plate — to refine your sense of composition, light, and surface texture.

Final Projects: Bringing It All Together

In this final module, you’ll apply everything you’ve learned to create finished interior and exterior watercolor scenes. Begin with paper preparation and quick sketches that focus on form, balance, and negative space.

In Project A, create a monochrome value study before developing your full scene — layering washes, glazes, and final details. Then move to Project B, a full-color interior that explores light, depth, and atmosphere with confidence.

You’ll wrap up by learning how to photograph and share your finished paintings — a calm, rewarding way to celebrate your growth as an artist.

Bonus: Ink & Wash for Façades

Explore a looser, expressive way to capture architecture through ink and watercolor. Begin with an introduction to pens, line variation, and relaxed drawing, then learn how to add character and charm through forgiving, imperfect lines.

Build soft color layers with light washes, focusing on atmosphere over precision. Finally, bring everything together in Project C — an ink and watercolor façade featuring a balcony or street corner — combining structure, texture, and flow.
