There’s something truly special about using pottery you’ve made with your own hands, pieces that become part of your everyday rituals while also carrying your own artistic voice.

But the real magic happens when functional pottery becomes more than just practical. Through sculptural details, texture and sgraffito, simple wares can transform into expressive pieces full of personality and character.

That’s why I’m creating a beginner-friendly online ceramics course focused on handbuilding functional pottery and bringing it to life through sculpture and surface design. You’ll learn the foundational techniques for creating mugs, plates, cups, and vessels, while also exploring sculptural attachments, texture, underglaze, and sgraffito to make each piece uniquely your own.

This online course is all about creating pottery that feels artistic, personal, and made to be used and enjoyed every day.

You’ll be encouraged to experiment, develop your own visual style, and turn everyday functional ware into miniature works of art.

Meet the potter.

Hey there, my name is Anna!

I’m an independent artist based in Santa Cruz, California, where I create pottery out of my private coastal studio. I’ve been playing with clay for eight years, and working as an artist for five.

I create functional, handmade pieces with sculptural or painted elements inspired by the California coastal environment. My work is functional for every day use (microwave and dishwasher safe!) and each item is also a small piece of art.

I’m so excited to be starting on this new part of my art journey, and hope you’ll follow along!
