Welcome, I’m Mike
I’m an illustrator and concept artist focused on creating anime-inspired art through a distinctly Black lens. My work explores the intersection of identity, culture, and fantasy — crafting original characters and stories that center Blackness that are traditionally overlooked.
I grew up loving anime and manga but rarely saw characters that reflected the African diaspora. That absence drives my creative mission: to build a universe where Black characters not only exist, but thrive — as heroes, villains, rebels, leaders, and everything in between. I do this through original character designs and narrative-driven projects like art books and comics.
Whether through standalone commissions or serialized visual stories, my goal is to create art that resonates with underrepresented audiences while pushing forward a more inclusive vision of anime-inspired storytelling. My art is not just about aesthetics — it’s about reclaiming space, inspiring imagination, and showing the world what it means to see yourself in the stories you love.
