Hi, I’m Alex Dakos
an artist who found his way back to the pen after years of searching for meaning through work, faith, and self-discovery.
Art has always been a part of my story. From drawing animals on my grandmother’s carpet as a kid to rediscovering my passion years later, creativity has been my constant reminder that growth often comes from stillness and persistence.
Today, my work blends fine line inking with moody, atmospheric tones inspired by nature, dreams, and emotion. I see each piece as a reflection of inner transformation, a way to express what words can’t.
Through my course, I want to share not just the technical side of drawing, but the mindset that helped me reconnect with my purpose. My hope is that you find peace in the process, confidence in your lines, and a renewed sense of who you are as an artist.

Drawing

Course Content
This course is divided into 7 modules with 8 hours of guided lessons and creative practice. You’ll also get access to full-length inking demonstrations that you can pause, replay, and follow at your own rhythm.
The lessons flow naturally, starting with the foundations of observation and mark-making, then moving into technique, form, and texture, and finishing with a complete pen and ink composition. I recommend following the modules in order and taking your time with each exercise.
The content is beginner-friendly and open to all who feel drawn to the timeless art of ink. There’s no rush, no pressure;  just a calm, meditative space to explore, practice, and grow your confidence line by line.

Build confidence with your tools and materials as you explore how ink interacts with paper and pressure. Learn essential mark-making techniques and develop control through simple, mindful exercisesThen, move from lines to forms; using weight, crosshatching, and texture to create depth and structure.
These modules lay the groundwork for everything ahead, helping you see form, light, and dimension through the quiet rhythm of the pen.
Modules 3 & 4
Composition, Light and Contrast
Learn how to turn your studies into balanced, expressive compositions. Explore proportion, framing, and movement to guide the viewer’s eye and create harmony on the page.
Then, dive into light and shadow to bring atmosphere and emotion to your work. You’ll practice using contrast, value, and tonal layering to create depth, focus, and mood; transforming simple sketches into dramatic, cohesive pieces.
Modules 5 & 6
Drawing from Life and Texture Mastery
Apply your skills through real-life studies and daily sketching practice. Learn to capture gesture, proportion, and energy while observing people, animals, and nature with clarity and intention.
Then, explore the language of texture: from soft fur and flowing fabric to metal, stone, and glass. Through controlled line work, you’ll learn to suggest weight, surface, and realism, bringing every subject to life with tactile depth and character.
Module 7
From Lines to Masterpiece
Bring everything you’ve learned into one complete ink artwork. From brainstorming and composition to layering value and texture, each step will guide you toward a finished piece that reflectsyour
growth and vision.
You’ll refine your contrasts, add thoughtful details, and learn how to present your work with confidence. This is where practice meets purpose; where your lines, patience, and creativity come together to tell your story in ink.
