I’m excited to share that my upcoming course “Architectural Drawing on Location” is launching soon.

In this course, we’ll begin with the foundations of architectural drawing—looking at perspective, proportions, and composition as you sit directly in front of the building you’re sketching. From there, we’ll move into capturing details, textures, light, and atmosphere, so your drawings feel alive and connected to the place. By the end, you’ll have the skills to confidently create on-location sketches that combine architectural precision with personal expression.

With step-by-step lessons, guided exercises, and practical tips, this course is designed for beginners and aspiring artists who want to learn the art of drawing buildings outdoors and build confidence sketching directly from observation.

Hi, I’m Bryan Cordova Arias!

I am an Ecuadorian-American artist and trained architect based in New York. My inspiration for pen-and-ink drawing grew as a student and later in my mid-twenties, when I set aside time to travel with only the bare art essentials—just a few sketchbooks and paper—journeying across five continents.

During those endeavors, I discovered a passion for sketching directly from live observation. It became a way to connect more deeply with my surroundings and to reshape how I saw and drew the world. When I returned to New York in 2023, I founded Drawings of New York, a studio practice rooted in the performative spirit of urban sketching.

Today, my work has been recognized across the city and has led to collaborations with other artists, collectors, public clients, and international organizations. Through pen and ink, I try to capture not just architectural precision but also the human energy and rhythm of public life—the little details that make a place feel alive
