Learn to design, carve and print tessellations with rubber blocks.

I am excited to announce that I am working on a new introductory course: Bugs & Botanicals - Tessellation Block Printing. Registration will be opening soon!

This course is beginner friendly, and also suitable for artists with some block printing experience who want to level up skills. Work from the comfort of your own kitchen table, with minimal mess and no press required.

You’ll learn to draw nature subjects and translate the design into a block print. I’ll guide you through how to carve blocks and then to print with them, and I’ll share tips and tricks for success from my decade of tessellation printmaking experience! You’ll be printing your own prints, using a collection of nature-inspired geometric blocks that we’ll develop together.

Sign up on my waiting list to secure a discounted price. Once the course is live, you’ll be the first to know about it!

You love nature, and you love art! I have been bringing these two disciplines together for decades, as a science illustrator, exhibit designer and nature artist. We can have the best of both worlds!

You would like to try printmaking because it looks so awesome, but feel intimidated. I’ll guide you through introductory steps with loads of details and demos.

Tessellation and geometry are fascinating! From ancient mosaics to M.C. Escher, geometric patterns intrigue our brains. Learn to create tessellations yourself!

You want to get OFF your device and do something creative with your hands. Tired of AI art and non-stop, digital life? Slow down and focus while learning the processes of printmaking. It’s honestly incredibly therapeutic.

I WANT TO LEARN MORE

Hey there, I'm Jen.
It's great to meet you!

I’m a printmaker, clay artist and science illustrator. I draw inspiration from nature, and share my fascination with flora and fauna through my art. I’m particularly interested in printmaking tributes to unusual and small species.

My educational background is in ecology research, and my true passion is art. I’m happiest when I can combine the disciplines! I’ve taught art to students of all ages, often integrating biological subjects into my lesson, and I find great fulfillment when my students discover that they are in fact, artists!

I live in California, USA, where we’re lucky to access both beautiful coastlines as well as mountain meadows and biodiverse deserts. There is natural inspiration all around us, just waiting to be interpreted as blockprints!

Join my course, and I’ll be right there with you at every step as you embark on your printmaking journey! Sign up for the waiting list today :)
