Hi, I’m Kevin!
I have been working in the field of illustration and fine art under the name blindfish. I was raised in southern California and have a BFA in painting.
I have done editorial and op/ed illustrations for The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Time magazine, The Orange County Register, Reason Magazine, Mother Jones, and The Cleveland Plain Dealer (to name a few).
I have shown in fine art galleries around the world, most recently in the Board A.F. show at Gallery AF in downtown Los Angeles, Gallery 30 South, and in the Codex show in Philadelphia. I have created background paintings for the famed french animator Sylvain Chomet, creator of ‘The Triplets of Belleville’. These were drawn traditionally and colored digitally.
I have also done storyboards for the movie War Monkeys as well as for several commercial ads. Here is where you can see some of my work: www.blindfish-art.com.
I self-published the graphic novel ‘the cormorant I’ which I wrote and illustrated. I am about to self-publish the graphic novel ‘turd’ while working on ‘the cormorant II’.

Start with the essentials of graphic novels and your creative process. You’ll learn what defines a graphic novel, explore fiction vs. non-fiction, choose a genre, identify your audience, and shape the big idea behind your story with clear themes, tone, and direction.
Modules 5–6:
Worlds, Pages & Visual Storytelling
Create believable environments and learn how to tell your story visually. You’ll draw surroundings, perspective, and backgrounds, place characters in space, and design pages using panels, flow, splash pages, and layouts that guide the reader naturally through the story.
