HEY, I'M ILENA
I was born and raised in Rome, Italy and spoke Italian as my native language; I then learned Italian at school, starting at age 6. I moved to Poland in 2000. I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and cultural studies from the University of Southern California in 2008. In 2013, I earned a PhD in educational psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park. Over the past 10 years, I have published more than a dozen articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters focusing on language acquisition and bilingualism. More recently, I have begun to focus on the education of Polish cultures and languages in social media. As of May 2020, I have accumulated more than 100,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram.
