Hi, my name is Jean Pierre.
I was born in Quito, Ecuador, where I grew up surrounded by a rich and diverse natural world. From an early age, I was drawn to animals and the environments they inhabit. Spending time observing these ecosystems shaped the way I see and understand life, and it naturally led me toward painting.
Later, I moved to New York City to continue my studies. I earned a BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts and a Master’s in Fine Art from the New York Academy. During that time, I focused on developing my technical skills, studying classical painting and learning how to build form, light, and depth through observation.
My work often explores themes connected to nature, especially endangered species and the changes they face. I’m interested in how animals can carry emotion and meaning, and I often paint them in ways that reflect both their strength and their vulnerability.
Through painting, I try to slow down and pay closer attention to the world around me. It’s a way of understanding, but also a way of staying connected.
In this course, I’d like to share my process and help you learn how to paint animals with more awareness, patience, and intention, even if you’re just starting out. Click the link below to join the waiting list!
