Losing and Finding Yourself in Clay
A beginner's guide to hand-building pottery with your personality X+ cozy video lessons and + hours of friendly, step-by-step guidance. Â
Creativity isn’t just for the “naturally gifted”
It’s for anyone who’s curious and ready to mold clay.
Maybe you’ve watched others sculpt expressive faces or craft beautiful mugs and wondered, “Am I good enough for this?” Here’s a secret: Pottery isn’t about being perfect from the beginning. It starts with a little curiosity and the willingness to make a few "bad pots" along the way.
You don’t need special talent to join this adventure. Whether you are sculpting a "stone face" or building your first functional mug, all you need is a willingness to explore and trust the process.
In my course, K2 Clay: Losing and Finding Yourself in Clay, I’ll be your friendly guide. I’m breaking down the basics of hand-building pottery, helping you create pieces with personality while building solid ceramic skills.
This is your invitation to start, enjoy the moment, and discover the joy of making something with your own hands. Let’s start your ceramics journey together, one pinch pot at a time.
Hand-building Pottery with Personality is a Skill Anyone Can Learn!
Do you feel inspired by the quirky, expressive faces clay can take?
Do you love the idea of creating with your hands but feel unsure where to start?
Are you a beginner or someone who wants to finally develop your sculpting and vessel skills with confidence?
Pottery is an art anyone can learn!
I designed this course for clay lovers of all levels, from complete beginners to those who’ve tried before but want to add more character to their work.
You’ll learn everything from the "Simple Stone Face" to functional slabs, mugs, and more! I’ll take you step-by-step until the finish line: the glaze!
Let’s unlock your creative potential together!
Hi, my name is Katie-Rose!
I am the maker behind K2 Clay! My work is a celebration of the human experience: the oddities, quirks, and moods that make us each a work of art. What started as a way to laugh at the ridiculousness of life through sculpted faces has grown into a full-blown obsession.
I’ve been sculpting faces out of anything I could get my hands on- from mashed potatoes to sand -since I was a child. I began my clay journey in 2017 under an incredible mentor and taught myself to wheel-throw during the 2020 pandemic.
Today, I balance life as a part-time nurse with a home studio crammed with pots, mugs, and plants. Based on a small farm in Washington, I am endlessly grateful for the space to create and for your support in letting me share these stories with you.
My course Losing and Finding Yourself in Clay, is a beginner-friendly guide where I’ll walk you through everything you need to know to start your clay journey!
JOIN NOWImagine Overcoming Your Fears…
You sit down at your workspace and begin molding a character face with ease.
No more comparing your work to others; you start enjoying your own way of creating quirks, expressions, and personality.
Each piece becomes a chance to experiment with a new mood or a "perfectly imperfect" structure.
How does that feel?
Today, you can choose to finally develop your hand-building pottery skills. Working with clay feeds both the mind and the soul-Â and now is your time to begin.
In this course, we’ll explore the tools, techniques, and mindset you need to start strong. You’ll learn to start from the beginning, move carefully, and create the pieces your heart desires with ease.
I’ll be with you every step of the way!
At the end of the course you will be able to:
Sculpt with Personality
Learn how to bring clay to life by adding quirks and moods to your work. We’ll master the "Stone Face" and discover how to add expressive 3D character to functional pieces without losing their usability.
Master the Fundamentals
Build a solid foundation using core hand-building techniques. From the "Scratch & Attach" rule to mastering pinch pots, coils, and slabs, you’ll learn the repeatable processes needed to create sturdy, beautiful pottery.
Navigate the Kiln or Air-Dry
Take the guesswork out of the finish line. Whether you are using a kiln or working with air-dry clay, you'll learn to manage the "color surprise" of glazes and paints to ensure your final pieces look exactly how you imagined.
