Hey, I'm Lara

I'm a visual development artist, art director, award-winning author and storyteller from Spain, based in London, UK.

I specialise in bringing concepts and ideas to life, with a special focus on environments, colour keys, and style exploration/ development. I’ve worked across different industries and disciplines - from animation to videogames, to publishing, to content creation and teaching - which has grounded and honed my storytelling skills as a common denominator, giving me a broader view and understanding of style versatility, project limitations & opportunities and target audiences.

As an artist, I drive my storytelling from the small joys I perceive around me, nature (water bodies and forests especially), history, beautiful shapes, life experiences and emotions, and atmospheric colours. I have a special attachment to anything that feels nostalgic, analogue and relatable. Off-set, collage, textures and anything that feels physical and potentially imperfect are details I always aim to implement in my work, bringing in a unique graphic style.

My upcoming course will be opening for the very first time soon. This course is an invitation to explore environments as storytelling spaces — grounded in atmosphere, colour, texture, and emotion.

HIYA, I'M SHELBY!

I am an acrylic painter fueled by nostalgia, curiosity, and a touch of spite. My work balances realism with playful surrealism—often bold, often colorful, and always unapologetically me. I’m never content to do the same thing twice, constantly experimenting with new techniques, textures, and themes.

Through my art, I explore how personal voice evolves when you stop trying to “fit in” and start creating like you. In this course, I’m here to help you do the same: uncover what makes your art yours and build a style that feels authentic, dynamic, and distinctly you.

I believe the best work happens when you’re having fun, making messes, and learning to trust your gut—even if that means painting something weird (especially then).
