Hey, I'm Austina
As a Black female artist in America, I am committed to creating art that celebrates the beauty and positivity of the Black community. My work, which primarily uses acrylic paint, builds on the legacy of African American art by providing a counter-narrative to Eurocentric perceptions. I use vivid color and complex compositions to capture the depths of Black culture and its universal qualities. My pieces, which often feature human figures and portraits, are rooted in surrealism to tell stories that go beyond the visual. Through my art, I aim to challenge perceptions and inspire new ideas, allowing viewers to connect with each piece psychologically and emotionally. Art has become my voice, a tool to show that the possibilities are endless and that Black people can occupy any space, both real and imagined.
