Hi, I’m Julie.
I began my creative journey in 2010 as a full-time artist, creating artwork for the textile, stationery and home markets through my work in surface pattern design.
Over the years, I’ve illustrated three books in my signature collage style, developed textile collections, and licensed my artwork internationally to companies including Random House Publishing, Hallmark, World Market, Trader Joe’s and Design Design, bringing my art into everyday spaces around the world.
My work blends drawing, paint, collage and expressive mark-making, often inspired by the shapes, colors and rhythms of the natural world.
In 2020, I began teaching and discovered how much I love sharing this creative process with others. My approach has grown slowly and intuitively over the years, shaped by observation, experimentation and a deep curiosity about materials and nature.
Through my teaching, I hope to invite you into that same spirit of exploration, helping you reconnect with your intuition, build your own visual language, and create art that feels personal and meaningful.

The course is organized into 9 thoughtfully designed modules, with 40+ video lessons and over 9 hours of guidance and creative exploration.
You’re encouraged to move through the modules in order, allowing each step to gently build on the previous one as your confidence and creative practice grow.
You can pause, replay and revisit the lessons whenever you like, giving yourself the space to experiment, reflect and create at your own pace.

Beginning Your Creative Journey
Start by discovering the philosophy behind The Art of Wild Noticing and Julie’s intuitive approach to creativity. You’ll also explore the materials, papers and simple preparations that will help you build a welcoming space for experimentation and play.
Modules 3 & 4
Noticing & Exploring Color
Learn to observe the world like an artist. Through moodboards, drawing exercises and visual notes, you’ll gather inspiration from nature and begin exploring color instinctively through simple studies and expressive experimentation.
Modules 5 & 6
Marks, Expression & Layers
Experiment with expressive mark-making, abstract drawing and intuitive painting. You’ll also explore layering techniques like glazing and collage to bring texture, depth and richness to your work.
Modules 7 & 8
Growing Your Creative Practice
Develop your visual vocabulary and learn how to work in small series to generate ideas. You’ll also begin bringing your pieces together while building a creative rhythm that supports a lasting art practice.
Module 9
Reflection & Next Steps
Celebrate what you’ve created and reflect on how your artistic voice has grown. Julie shares final thoughts and encouragement to help you continue your creative journey.
