Hey, I'm Katie!

I’m an illustrator and artist from New Zealand, now based on Vancouver Island, Canada. I work with international clients on projects in publishing, surface pattern design, and art licensing, and I also run my own brand, In My Backyard, which features a line of stationery and illustrated goods.
This course is designed with beginners in mind. It’s an introduction to keeping a sketchbook as a visual diary, using gardens and parks as inspiration with all the wonderful life they contain. I find the colours, shapes, and textures of the natural world an endless source of inspiration, and filling sketchbook pages with these observations is a vital part of my creative practice. My sketchbooks are where I experiment with materials, discover new colour combinations, and allow myself the freedom to play.

The course has 7 modules for X+ hours of learning and practicing. It also includes X+ full-length artwork tutorials! You can pause and replay the videos as much as you want. It would be best to take the course in order, because it will start from the basics to lessons at a more advanced level.Â
