Hello, I'm Ozlem
I am a Maryland-based artist with a nontraditional path into fine art, as my academic background is rooted in business and technology. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and later completed a Master’s degree in Information Technology at Johns Hopkins University. Early in my career, I explored my creativity through graphic design, web design, and development.
I grew up in Istanbul, TĂĽrkiye, a city rich in history, culture, and art that inspired my passion for the arts from a young age. My interest in art began in high school with drawing classes, and over time I experimented with watercolor, acrylics, and water-mixable oils. Eventually, I transitioned to traditional oil painting, which became a turning point in my artistic journey.
I am currently studying traditional oil painting techniques under the mentorship of Matt Zoll at the Zoll Studio School of Fine Art in Baltimore, Maryland. My commitment to my craft has led me to exhibit my work in several juried exhibitions and galleries, where I have also received recognition, including an Honorable Mention at the HoCo Open 2024 in Ellicott City, Maryland.

This section guides you through the complete progression of a painting, from the initial sketch and toning to underpainting and structured color blocking. This section takes you through the complete evolution of a painting, beginning with sketching, toning, and underpainting, and progressing through the staged process of blocking in color. As you add depth and refine details across each phase, the artwork gradually gains structure and expression. The journey concludes with final touches that unify and elevate your finished piece.
