Everything you need to know about screen printing

"How do you get your prints onto clay?" I've answered that DM about a thousand times. So I've finally written it all down and turned it into a course!

We'll cover everything. From making your screens and mixing your inks, to printing onto clay, building forms, firing, and what to do when it all goes sideways (because it will).

It's for potters who've never screen printed, and for screen printers who haven't worked with clay. We start from zero.

What you can expect

New to clay? I've got you!

We will tackle all the basics: clay terminology, slab building, joining and drying. If you've never touched clay before, you can still take this course.

Screens, inks and slips, from scratch

Every type of screen I use (EZ screens, Speedball, HTV, traditional silkscreens), how to mix underglazes into printable inks, and how to get your slip to behave.

Every printing technique in my toolkit

Slip transfer onto newsprint, printing directly to clay, and tissue transfers. You'll know when to reach for each one and why.

From a flat slab to a finished, fired piece

Handbuilding with print, building more complex forms, plus bisque firing and glazing so your work actually makes it out of the kiln.

⋅ MEET THE CREATOR ⋅

Hi, I'm Donna!

I'm a ceramicist working from a garden studio by the sea in Bangor, Northern Ireland. I design and make homewares, ceramic art, and porcelain jewellery. Every piece is made by hand, start to finish.

Over the past few years, my practice has focused on process: developing my own methods for combining ceramics with screen printing. It's the work I'm best known for, and the work I get the most questions about.

This course is everything I've figured out, in one place. I've shared bits of the process on Instagram reels and taught these techniques through in-person workshops as well. This is my first time pulling it all together properly and I'd love for you to be a part of this journey.
