Hi! I'm Sara,
I’m an artist and author based in Virginia, specializing in both traditional and digital art inspired by classic fairytales. I’ve been sharing my work online since I was 15, and over the past 10 years, I’ve developed my own style and collected plenty of tips and tricks along the way.
Watercolor is one of my favorite mediums, and I love helping others discover the joy of mixing colors, experimenting with techniques, and creating expressive paintings. When I’m not painting, I’m cooking with lots of garlic, listening to true crime podcasts, or spending time with my three cats and my husband Zac in Virginia.

The course is suitable for everyone, teens, adults and children because there is no explicit content. It would be best to take the course in order, because it will start from the basics to lessons at a more advanced level.

Introduction / Basics of...
Start your journey by getting to know your instructor, exploring the course structure, and setting clear learning goals. Then, move into the essentials: understanding your materials (paper, brushes, paints, palettes, and water) and practicing core techniques like wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, layering, and glazing. These modules will give you the foundation to experiment with watercolor mixing step by step.
MODULE 3 & 4
Core Color Theory / Applying Color Theory
Deepen your understanding of color by exploring the color wheel, warm vs. cool tones, values, saturation, and harmonies. Next, learn how to apply these concepts in your paintings: plan compositions, choose hero colors, set the mood through temperature, and even break the rules to express your own vision. Together, these modules will transform the way you see and use color.
MODULE 5 & 6
Skin Tones / Details
Learn how to observe, mix, and paint lifelike skin tones, adding depth and vibrancy through subtle color variations. Then, move into the details: explore textures, fine lines, shapes, shadows, and highlights, using both warm and cool tones to bring your subjects to life. These modules will sharpen your eye and expand your creative possibilities.
MODULE 7
Refining
In the final module, you’ll take everything you’ve learned and refine your process: problem-solving, simplification, and developing your personal workflow. This is where you move from student to independent artist, equipped with the tools and confidence to paint anything you want — while keeping your creativity flowing.
