Hi, I'm Chantal!

I've been practising the art of Pyrography for over 9 years from my home in Leeds, England. I started Shinycraft in 2013 painting glassware, but quickly got bored and looked for an alternative craft to learn. Having seen a few posts on social media I knew I had to give Pyrography a try, and I've been hooked ever since. Also known as Woodburning, it is a super relaxing, highly enjoyable art form. My work is inspired by the natural world, witchcraft and my love of all things spooky!

Over the years I've taught myself the ins and outs largely through trial and error, and I get asked a lot of the same questions, from which wood to use and where to source it, to prepping a blank and keeping your tips clean. I love that this craft keeps me learning too, and I'm excited to pass on what I've picked up along the way.
