As a child, I grew up in Devon, UK by the Jurassic coastline where the ocean was an incredibly important part of my life. Some of my earliest memories are of my mum gutting mackerel in the kitchen, discovering treasures in rockpools with my sisters and my dad, who was a diver, coming home with crabs and lobsters for the cooking pot.
The sea has always been a constant for me, something I’ve always felt deeply connected to and endlessly fascinated by. Everything I create is rooted in those experiences and emotions.
I didn’t come to printmaking with years of formal training. I discovered it during the pandemic, at a time when lockdown kept me from the wild places that made me feel the most alive, places that grounded me and connected me to the world in a way nothing else quite does. It became my escape. A way to reconnect with what felt missing, and to bring those feelings back into my everyday life through creativity.
The entire process of linocut is profoundly tactile and wonderfully meditative. From the subtle resistance of the blade carving into a fresh block of lino to that moment of lifting the paper and revealing the final print, it never loses its sense of magic.
This course is about more than just learning the skill of linocut. It is also about building your confidence, letting go of perfection, and discovering what you are capable of creating when you give yourself the chance.
For those who want to take it further, I have included an additional, in depth module guiding you through steps on how to monetise your work. Hi, I’m Rosie!
In 2020, just before the world went into lockdown, I discovered lino printing. As a passionate diver, it became my way to escape and stay connected to the ocean when everything else came to a halt. What began as a personal outlet quickly grew into something more. In 2021, I launched The Wild Print Studio, hoping to sell a handful of my first prints and share the magic of the underwater world with fellow ocean lovers.
In my very first month, I sold 100 prints.
It was such a huge moment for me, I could not believe it. At the time I was living in a tiny depressing room in a Bristol houseshare, working a 9-to-5 office job which was…fine. But for the first time, I began to see the freedom and potential this creative path could offer and how it could completely transform my life. And it did…
Five years on, I now run my own creative business from the flat I was able to buy myself. I have shipped thousands of prints to over 30 countries, and my work has grown into something I once only imagined.
More importantly, my life now has a level of freedom and flexibility that it never had before. I can head to the mountains or wander a coastal path when I feel the pull. I can visit my parents when I want, spend time with the people I love, or take advantage of those rare sunny days in the UK instead of sitting in an office.
And now I want to help you build this freedom!
