My name is My
I have been making art since I was a child, but I did not venture into the world of oil painting until 2013. I painted exactly 2 things that year. It was a deer painting and a still life of a pineapple. I hated them, threw out the deer painting and can’t quite remember what happened with the pineapple painting. I didn’t touch oil paint again until 2015. I got asked to paint a portrait and when I realized I needed a medium that dried slower as I paint, I used oil paint once again. This time, I did my research, watched tutorials, read blog posts, and the result was more to my liking. I still did not love oil paint. So, I again left it alone. This process repeated, and it wasn’t until 2022 that I discovered a way of painting with oil that I absolutely love. And now it is my favorite paint medium to work with. I can’t say that I am qualified with a classically trained art degree. What I have is years of hating then loving oil painting, with many lessons learned along the way that I hope will help you discover your own love of oil painting.Â
